U.S. Rep. Fred Upton, R-St. Joseph, today released the following statement after the president signed into law a Continuing Resolution (CR) that includes a six-year extension of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
“Here in Michigan, CHIP-funded programs serve approximately 100,000 children. This historic extension – the longest and most generous in the programs history – is a big win for these kids and their families. CHIP is more than just a critical public health initiative, it’s a promise we make to the most vulnerable among us that they will be served and taken care of no matter what. Getting this extension signed into law delivers on that promise.”
