U.S. Rep. Fred Upton, R-St. Joseph, tonight released the following statement after former FBI Director Robert Mueller was appointed as special counselor to oversee the federal investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election:

“As I’ve said on numerous occasions, the American people deserve answers and we owe it to them to follow the facts wherever they lead. Special counselor Mueller is a man of the highest integrity with a deep background at the FBI. I support this decision to appoint a special counsel so that we can get to the bottom of this issue once and for all.”
