Upton Votes to Keep Government Open
U.S. Rep. Fred Upton, R-St. Joseph, today released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives voted 382 to 30 in favor of a Continuing Resolution that maintains appropriations for Fiscal Year 2017 and keeps the government open.
“Today’s vote ensures essential federal services remain open and operational and that our armed services continue to receive the support they deserve. This short-term Continuing Resolution also allows us more time to come to consensus on future appropriation bills. It is my sincere hope that we can find bipartisan common ground as we move forward in this process and continue funding important domestic programs such as the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and the National Institutes of Health. There is more work to do and I look forward to rolling up my sleeves and getting the job done.”
