This weekend, folks will once again brave the crowded roads and airports, bus and train stations to reunite with loved ones across the country in celebration of the Christmas holiday season.  In the midst of the hustle and bustle, let us give a moment’s pause to reflect upon the blessings in our lives.

The holidays are a special time of year when folks gather with family and friends to celebrate and reflect – reliving treasured memories, partaking in time-honored traditions, and making new ones.  When it is so easy to get caught up in the minutiae of our day-to-day lives, the season offers us fresh perspective and reminds us of all that we have to be grateful for.

While there is much to celebrate, we are also very mindful of the heartbreak, challenges, and injustices that so many face in communities here at home and around the world.  Our heartfelt prayers are with the victims and families of those affected by last week’s horrific events in Connecticut.  May God continue to comfort all families suffering through this unspeakable tragedy.

We also keep in mind the brave men and women of our armed forces who are not able to be home with us this year.  We owe our courageous service members and their loved ones a tremendous debt of gratitude for the countless sacrifices they have made for our country.  Our thoughts and prayers are with them daily as we look forward to their safe return home.
